Carolina Bee’s Funky Fashion

Carolina ‘Bee’ Berumen was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, but she’s spent most of her life in central Phoenix dominating the streets with her funky-fresh fashion.

At 26 years old, Miss Bee says she’s on a mission to take the flash of the 80s and the glamor of the 40s and create a striking local style that’s all her own.

What is the last item of clothing you bought?

I went to this warehouse full of vintage clothing where I had the chance to go through boxes and bins full vintage goodies. I ended up leaving with a mountain of clothing.

What is the item of clothing you most covet at the moment?

This is a tough one, but i would say at the moment it’s bodysuits. I’m obsessed with them because they go perfectly with shorts, skirts, and pants.

Give us a childhood memory of you and clothes:
My two older sisters lived through the 80s and 90s in their teens, so growing up, my other sister and I would sneak in their closets and just go crazy with their clothes. Sometimes we would wear them to school and when we got home, oh man we were in big trouble!

Name five items every woman should have in her closet:
High wedges, a fitted blazer, a high-waisted pencil skirt, bold colorful prints and patterns, and a few bodysuits.

Name an item of clothing that’s best when it’s vintage:
Jumpsuits. There are so many different versions out there: shorts, pants, prints, the list just goes on …

What is your one piece of fashion advice for Phoenix?
Don’t be afraid to mix it up when it comes to eras and patterns. If it looks weird or different, then your on the right track. Dont worry what others think!
