Classic farce: great fun for an audience but not so much for the characters, considering all the unintentional dishabille, mistaken identity, and frustrated efforts to engage in naughtiness. Don’t Dress for Dinner, presented by Scottsdale’s Desert Foothills Theater through Sunday, April 13, is a perfect example, called Pyjamas pour Six in its original French by Marc Camoletti, who also wrote Boeing-Boeing.
The absence of stewardesses ain’t a thang here. While Bernard’s wife is away, he engages chef Suzette to make a special meal for his mistress, Suzanne, using his friend Robert as a cover. But with two people named Suzy, one of whom has the world’s most jealous husband, it doesn’t take much to tip the intricate plan into frantic disaster.
