If you’re feeling bummed that the crafting mania of the holidays is dying down, we’ve got good news. Beatrice Moore of Bragg’s Pie Factory recently announced the guidelines for submissions to this year’s Mutant Piñata show at Frontal Lobe Gallery.
The annual piñata show has become a staple of Phoenix’s Art Detour weekend — and a great excuse to hone our papier mâché skills.

Once you figure out how to make a piñata, participation is easy-peasy. Simply fill out the application form here, and bring your finished creation to Frontal Lobe Gallery between 10 a.m. and noon on Tuesday, March 4 (or by special arrangement).
When news happens, Phoenix New Times is there —
Your support strengthens our coverage.
We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.
Piñatas will be exhibited during the month of March, including Art Detour weekend on Saturday and Sunday, March 8 and 9. Submissions must be able to stand or hang for the entirety of that month without falling apart.
Selling your work is optional, but 70 percent of the sale price goes back to the artist.
