Being a woman is hard work, as any reputable drag queen can tell you. There are the tight dresses and six-inch stilettos, not to mention the fake eyelashes and padded boobs.

Witness “female illusionists” such as Lady Ashley, Diva, Masquerade, and Celia Putty working it hard for the crown at the Miss Gay Arizona America Pageant. The winner of Arizona’s competition will get the chance to compete for Miss Gay America — a title that comes with a ton of jewelry, gift certificates, and a $7,500 cash prize — in Columbus, Ohio, in October.

Preliminary night kicks off at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Charlie’s and the drag racing resumes on Sunday at Tempe Center for the Arts, where judges will determine who goes on to the national pageant.
