Bitchy Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour is proof that the fashion industry is a serious business. Of course, the same biz inspired laughter by introducing Barbie-inspired sweaters and polka-dot parachute pants on this year’s runways and putting a wedding hat that resembles a Flying Spaghetti Monster on Prince William’s royal cousin.

This blend of seriousness and humor is at the heart of Scorpius Dance Theatre’s fashion-themed Catwalk at Phoenix Theatre’s Little Theatre. The show is a remount of last spring’s successful dance revue, in which troupe members pranced onto a catwalk in local designer couture.

One popular number finds a robot vixen fending off some groping guys, while another is a sensual tango of male couplings. The biggest change to the program comes at the end. “Last season’s finale was loved and hated at the same time, so I decided to switch it up,” says choreographer and artistic director Lisa Starry. In its place are four new dances, including a male revue set to Beyonce’s “Put a Ring on It” and a dark circus-themed number with fashions by Alicia Klovenas.
