“Dear Diary: It’s summer 1997, and I’m 17 years old. For 11 months, I’ve been saying ‘no’ to my 21-year-old boyfriend, but I finally decided to let him hit it. We waited for his parents to go to bed, fired up Depeche Mode, and started poking around in the dark. Five seconds of pure pain followed by a big, snotty, shame-filled cry meant my virginity was gone forever.”
Now, wasn’t that a fun read?
For more gorgeous and tender memories like this, check out My First Time, a play presented by Ken Davenport (Altar Boyz, The Awesome 80s Prom). The production features four actors recounting story after story of hilarious, absurd, silly, and sexy cherry-popping moments. The true accounts were gathered from a Web site that kicked up in 1998 where folks anonymously shared more than 40,000 versions of their once-in-a-lifetime events.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Feb. 13. Continues through March 15, 2009
