“Thank goodness it’s basketball season” is a line that every single Arizona State Sun Devils fan never thought would be included in his or her vernacular.
Get used to it.
Reason being, the football team seems to be permanently on the fritz while fifth-year ASU Men’s Basketball head coach Herb Sendek is consistently churning out winners. Last season, with so-called limited resources at his disposal, Sendek led the Devils – who return three-point specialists Ty Abbott and Rihards Kuksiks as well as dynamic guard Jamelle McMillan – to a second-place finish in the Pac-10 and a should-have-been NCAA Tournament berth.
A team that locals can actually be proud of opens its 2010-11 home regular season with a match-up against the University of Alabama at Birmingham at Wells Fargo Arena.
