Before Vinnie Babarino donned a white polyester suit and came down with a serious case of Saturday Night Fever, bad girls and jive talkers were putting on their boogie skates, further funk-i-fying the discothéque with a four-wheeled fad called the roller disco.
Keeping the craze alive, Great Skate’s roller-disco night encourages rollers and bouncers to strut their (hot) stuff in silk-track shorts and striped athletic socks to symphony-orchestrated melodies of the era, courtesy of a spinning DJ and disco ball.
Disco skaters will start showing up at 11:30 p.m. with the private event running from 12:30 a.m. to 3 a.m.
