One new idea for every day in 2011. We’re talking big, small, local, international, in action and on the drawing board. Here’s today’s — what’s yours?
Rest assured, we’re not talking about dead people.
Jon Scieszka, the first National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, wrote the first episode of a children’s book and passed it on to a group of well-known writers and illustrators who are each responsible for continuing the story and passing it on.
Scieszka’s continuing project is based on the Exquisite Corpse — the old game of writing a sentence or phrase on a sheet of paper, folding it over (concealing only part of the phrase), passing it on, and having the next person in line do the same until the last person finishes the story and reads the entire sheet aloud.
When news happens, Phoenix New Times is there —
Your support strengthens our coverage.
We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.
The project is hosted by the online Library of Congress, which publishes a new episode and illustration of the story every two weeks. To read the story so far, visit the Exquisite Corpse Adventure page and stay tuned for additional episodes.
