Some consider the Maricopa County Fair a hick stepchild to the (oh so worldly) Arizona State Fair, but that attitude implies there’s something wrong with hick stepchildren.
The MCF may be a little slower than the State Fair, and a mite gamier ’cause of the County Fair’s greater emphasis on animal husbandry, but we prefer a languid pace, and we love the smell of sheep poop in the morning.
Heck, that’s what those old-school wooden clothespins are for, so grab one and head down to the Arizona State Fairgrounds. If livestock’s not your game, you can commiserate with SpongeBob SquarePants (“Do you smell that? That smell, it’s the smell of a smelly smell that smells smelly”) or hit the midway with an unlimited-ride pass for $28.
