In most cultures events that involve stuffing your face full of food for five hours straight are normally referred to as celebratory feasts or binge eating. But here in modern-day America, we like to fancy it up a little by calling it “attending a culinary festival.”

The ceaseless chowing that is fall festival season heats up with the eighth annual Phoenix Cooks! on Saturday, September 1, at Westin Kierland Resort, 6902 East Greenway Parkway in Scottsdale. This year’s event will include 32 cooking classes and demos, plus a giant marketplace where you’ll be able to gorge yourself on culinary delights from 45 of the Valley’s top resort and restaurant chefs. Wine and tequila tastings will be available, as well as beer from the Alaskan Brewing Co.
