Pixar’s Up taught us some very important life lessons, including that, with enough balloons, you can fly your house to South America and, perhaps more importantly, that giant, flightless birds don’t make good pets.
But you won’t need an airborne home to hang out with nine-foot birds when the 24th Annual Ostrich Festival takes flight with ostrich races and a petting zoo that should satiate any desires to see the whooping feathery fowl.
Apart from the towering avians, the festival features monkeys, dogs, a bubble show, a magic show, and live music from Blue Oyster Cult and The Marshall Tucker Band. If you’re feeling adventurous (and not emotionally attached to the fest’s guest of honor), ostrich burgers will be served, along with a variety of fair-style food.
