These days, farmers’ markets are getting mighty crowded, and organic, locally grown ingredients are popping up on more restaurant menus than ever. It’s as if people are finally striving to know where their food actually comes from instead of giving in to the fast-food gods.

There’s still so much more to learn about what we’re putting in our mouths. Fresh is a new film that doesn’t just point out the problem of what a business mindset has done to our eating habits, but also examines possible solutions to create a healthier lifestyle. The documentary features interviews with farmers, activists, and supermarket owners, all whom give their takes on issues such as obesity, toxins in food, and how the food industry affects the environment.

The flick, part of the Whole Foods Film Festival, is playing for one weekend only.
