Actor, activist, social media star, and part-time Arizona resident George Takei and his husband Brad are hosting a special screening of the new documentary To Be Takei: A Star’s Trek for Life, Liberty, and Love in Scottsdale tonight, August 26. The film, which is playing exclusively at Harkins Shea 14, will screen at 7 p.m. and conclude with a Q&A with the Takeis.

Directed by Jennifer M. Kroot, To Be Takei documents George Takei’s journey from an American interment camp to an iconic on-screen science fiction character to a gay-rights activist.
The film is filled with Takei’s playful wit and features many celebrity appearances, including William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols, John Cho, and Dan Savage.
Seating for the 7 p.m., August 26, screening followed by a Q&A with George and Brad Takei is being sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
