The Arizona Aloha Festival presents one of those rare opportunities in Tempe where you may happen upon some dancing buff guys with tribal tattoos who . . . wait for it . . .aren’t poseur frat boys. To sweeten the deal, these Pacific playboys will be wearing loincloths and working up quite a sweat as they bang on drums or twirl fire batons. Given the Pacific-specific dance performances, an immaculate spread of island cuisine, and an entire marketplace chock-full of uniquely tropical goodies, it’s safe to say that Tempe Beach Park will be transformed into a giant South Pacific culture orgy. Aspiring Tiny Tims can also tiptoe through the tulips to the ukulele jam session (how could that not be a cacophonous train wreck?) and enter a raffle for some tantalizing tropical getaways.
