We get it — it’s hot. It’s really, really hot. So hot, in fact, that local gallery and boutique Practical Art is hosting its first-ever juried exhibition, “HEAT” with work from 12 local artists inspired (and angered) by, yes, the sweltering temps.
The exhibition opens the Sunday, July 1, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and features work by Safwat Saleem, Lisa Albinger, Regina Alexandra, Eric Cox, Nicole Dunlap, Jason Hugger, Kevin Hummelgard, Sarah Kriehn, Terry Pisel, John Ryszka Iilamp, Sue Walde, and Annie Waters in a variety of media.
The artwork was chosen by a panel of jurors from local art institutions and publications including curator Kim Larkin, ASU Art Museum’s Heather Lineberry, Robrt Pela of New Times and Willo North, Kimber Lanning of Local First Arizona, Ed Baker of College Times, and a number of local artists. All work “celebrates connectivity in an often stifling environment.”
July 1-31, 11 a.m.; Fri., July 13, 7-9 p.m., 2012
