Mark your calendars for the 5th Annual Grand Avenue Festival. The once-forgotten thoroughfare hosts a vibrant street fair featuring food trucks, performance art and exhibits from its surrounding businesses.

Expect yearly staples like the Coffee, Cookies and Crafts fair, held outside Bragg’s Pie Factory from noon until 5 p.m., and the Re-Dapt Historic Commercial Building Tour (hourly from 9 a.m. until noon), which explore the reuse of original buildings to create a sustainable neighborhood.

Recycling is a prominent theme, with the 9th Annual Dia de los Muertos celebration, “Segunda Vida” including work created from repurposed materials, while the Un.trashed Recycled Rubbish Fashion Show and Rolling Rubbish Revival Show promise a fresh take on both fashion and, well, trash.

Check out the festival from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, October 19, along Grand Avenue between Van Buren Street and McDowell Road. Festival admission and parking are free. Call 602-391-4016 or visit www.grandavephoenix.com.
