Nao Matsunga says he is challenged by the unknown. The Japanese emerging artist is known for his textured clay sculptures that mimic architectural and natural forms. Matsunga will visit ASU Art Museum as part of the “Crafting a Continuum: Rethinking the Contemporary Craft Field” series.
“Crafting a Continuum” includes workshops and public talks with artists who, according to the museum, “are working with a range of media and processes to think beyond the boundaries of traditional craft.”
Matsunga’s will talk about his work and the future of his craft on on Tuesday, February 26, at 6 p.m. at 51 East 10th Street in Tempe. He’ll also return for a public workshop on March 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the ASU Undergraduate Ceramics Studio. Both events are free and open to the public.
