Jane Joyce just published her fifth book in as many years, and bookworms can get all over the new tome starting today.
With Portrait of the Artist — available online (and in about a month in physical form) at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and www.buybooksontheweb.com — the local writer, musician, and downtowner has departed a bit from her previous novelistic works that include Chicanery Absolved (2006) and her three-volume series The Totality of All Being.
According to Joyce, the first half of Portrait is composed of “raw, moody, sometimes shocking and humorous” poetry, while the latter parts include two short stories as well as two essays that the author describes as “philosophical explorations into human consciousness and potential.”
In the future, Joyce plans to continue the publishing hot streak with a new read in 2011. She’s also getting close to releasing Memeplex, the thirteen-song debut album by Scrupulous, Joyce’s duo project with Bodhisattva percussionist Shane Sittig.
