One new idea for every day in 2011. We’re talking big, small, local, international, in action and on the drawing board. Here’s today’s — what’s yours?

Why bother with needles and lounge chairs when you can have the wind knit for you?

The Wind Knitting Factory is one of the latest temporary projects out of London-based Studio Merel Karof. The “factory” includes a fan attached to the outside of the Royal College of Art that powered the intricate machine of hooks and yarn.

Studio members write that the resulting knitted material was “harvested from time to time and rounded-off in individually packaged scarves” that are now part of a traveling exhibition.
