On October 2, 1980, when Muhammad Ali came out of retirement for a match against Larry Holmes, a 14-year-old Mike Tyson was watching. Surrounded by his boxing trainers and fellow athletes, Tyson looked on with shock as Holmes unmercifully beat the invincible Ali. The next day, Tyson’s trainer got Ali on the phone, and Tyson, blubbering and sniffling, told him, “When I get big, I’m gonna kill him for you!” The cool thing: Eight years later, he served Holmes the only K.O. of his career.

For everything you know about Mike Tyson, there’s so much more that you don’t. In the Spike Lee-directed one-man show Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth, the heavyweight champ speaks about the stories beneath the stories, sharing tales of his victories and defeats inside and outside the ring. Watch and you’ll find that he’s more than just pet tigers and face tattoos.
