Consider Mona Lisa messed with. The Last Supper? Let’s say, supplemented. And as for The Two Fridas, you’d be correct to guess that they’ve been funked up. You can see all of the above (and more) at “Messin with the Masters” — an exhibition that does just that.
With wonky works from contemporary artists riffing on classic paintings, the show features Snow White subbing in for Kahlo in José Rodolfo Loaiza Ontiveros’ Reencuentro – The Two Snow Whites and Mona smiling in the company of an orange orchard in Randy Slack’s Mona Citrus.
Catch the exhibition at Mesa Contemporary Arts, One East Main Street, through Hours Tuesday, October 15, are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Visit www.mesaartscenter.com or call 480-644-6560.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursdays, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sundays, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Starts: Sept. 13. Continues through Jan. 26, 2013
