Be still your beating hearts, ladies. The Internet’s imaginary boyfriends and Making a Murderer‘s real life superheroes are coming to Phoenix.
In the frenzy that followed the Netflix documentary, viewers were as gripped with defense attorneys Dean Strang and Jerry Buting as they were with the man they were hired to defend. Their bold crusade for Steven Avery went beyond just trying to clear his name, but taking to task a small town police force they allege conspired to muddle it in the first place.
On August 12, the duo’s touring event, “A Conversation on Justice,” will be making a stop at Celebrity Theatre. Echoing the roundtable discussion in the the final episode, they will get into more detail about their experiences on the Avery case. They will also examine themes seen in other true-crime pop culture phenomenons like Serial and The Jinx and what they mean for the criminal justice system. Here’s hoping the stage will be rotating, because that’s about as much action as there will be.
Tickets go on sale on Friday, March 4, at noon. Fans are encouraged to come ready with questions for the pair, so take this time between now and August to binge-watch the doc. That way you can waltz in like a real smarty pants.
