Christmas is full of traditions that are borderline cliché: A Christmas Story marathons, feeble attempts to make eggnog bearable with rum, hating Christmas music by the fifth day of December, and the list goes on. Most folks get into the holiday spirit by going ice skating or watching a holiday show like The Nutcracker, but Space 55 offers a fresh alternative with A Bloody Mary Christmas. No, this isn’t a local answer to the slashfest in Black Christmas. Instead, it is a heart warming play with sassy, swearing old ladies. The play focuses on a trio of retirees struggling to keep their Sun City condo, as the Grinch (a.k.a. the HOA) tries to give them the boot on Christmas Eve.
Watch these Golden Girls put up a funny fight at 8 p.m. Friday, December 13, at Space 55, 636 East Pierce Street. Tickets are $15. Call 602-663-4032 or visit www.space55.org.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sat., Dec. 21, 7 p.m. Starts: Dec. 6. Continues through Dec. 20, 2013
