Back in May, Scottsdale Public Arts and Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art enlisted the help of skateboarding and graffiti artist James “Dalek” Marshall to cast the Old Town arts venue in a new light. Make that 60 different shades of light to be exact. Now, the artist is back in anything but black to paint another vibrant mural in the Valley, and he’s looking to the community for help. Wether they have 10 minutes or two hours, the general public is invited to pick up a paint brush and contribute to a project that makes Arizona all the more colorful. The museum will even be rewarding morning participants by opening the museum early at 10 a.m. and offering free admission.
The community mural project with James Marshall runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, at the Scottsdale Public Art Bell Tower, just north of SMoCA, 7374 East Second Street. Participation is free, and all skill levels are welcome. For more information, visit www.smoca.org or call 480-874-4666.
