The Oakland Raiders have been arguably the worst team in the NFL for the last seven years. Plagued by a series of terrible draft picks, ill-advised free agency signings, and mediocre head coaches, the Silver and Black have averaged just 4 wins per season since their loss in Super Bowl XXXVII. This season’s Raiders harbors some talented players – notably cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, running back Michael Bush, and tight end Zach Miller – but the Raiders still don’t appear to be a particularly good squad.
They are, however, an excellent measuring stick for other teams.
When the Raiders roll into University of Phoenix Stadium they figure to give Arizona Cardinals’ a good idea of how good (or bad) the Red Birds are. If the Cards can’t win their home opener, it might be a long year for Arizona.
