According to local legend, ghouls and ghosts are quite the regulars at the Hotel San Carlos. Whether it’s the specter of Leone Jensen (who leapt to her death in 1928) haunting the seventh floor or the spirits of schoolchildren randomly roaming the hallways, the vintage hotel is a hotbed of paranormal activity.

So does that mean the zoot-suited dudes that will crowd the San Carlos, 202 North Central Avenue, on Monday, May 2, are prohibition-era poltergeists from the 1920s? Hardly. It’s probably just attendees of the Mobsters Ball.

The Roaring Twenties get a raucous revival inside the hotel’s Ghost Lounge when The Savoy Hopcats present a special edition of their weekly swing night. Besides plenty of pinstripe-wearing peeps practicing the Jitterbug, the costume party will feature a backroom blackjack tournament, prizes for the best-dressed mobster and doll, and music by the Kings of Pleasure.
