Kids these days seem to be getting much smarter and faster. Not only can the average youngster reprogram your smart phone and calculate pi to 42 places, he can easily dispense massive pwnage on your ass with the latest edition of Mortal Kombat, even though the PS3 title was released mere weeks ago.

Needless to say, if you’re gonna prevail against the pre-teens who will be playing the game during the Bookmans Video Game Challenge on Saturday, May 14, some practicing is in order.

A total of 32 joystick Jedi will be unleashing a furious flurry of fatalities over the course of the double-elimination tournament, which takes place at the Bookmans location at 8034 North 19th Avenue. The grand prize of a $100 gift card, as well as plenty of gaming schwag and bragging rights, awaits the winner.

Registration starts at noon and the beatings begin at 1 p.m.
