When the powers that be thunk up this celebration of the great outdoors and stuck it in June, we think the Back-Easters were thinking more along the lines of soft, woodsy footpaths and shadowy glens. But those who inhabit our little slice of scorched earth know that we have some of the top urban hiking and mountain biking terrain around, and at ridiculously easy access. So even if it’s a mite warm — at 6 a.m.! — consider this yet another excellent opportunity to say thanks that we don’t live in Cleveland, and to meet the dudes and ladies who keep our trails up to snuff. They’ll be on hand distributing trail maps and answering questions.
