When someone says that there’s no culture in Phoenix, they’re idiotically ignoring the popping local scene and the thousands of years that indigenous peoples have spent creating art around these parts. The 56th Annual Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair & Market, slated for Saturday, March 1, features contemporary Native American artists & performers whose work builds on their respective traditions.
In addition to over 600 artists with their wares for display and sale, this year’s Indian Fair & Market expands the palette of attendees by ditching the typical carnival foods for a menu that includes Southwestern and indigenous influences. With two stages for cultural performances of music and dance and expanded native ingredient cooking demos, attendees will be swimming in all things unique to this part of the country.
The 56th Annual Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair & Market is at 2301 North Central Avenue, on March 1 and 2.
