Before the Heard Museum’s NU (Native + You) events started taking place on Third Fridays, the last time we had visited the world-renowned spot was back in grade school.

Shame on us.

We’re pretty glad that, in addition to collecting and exhibiting ancient Native American art and curating shows featuring contemporary artists, the Heard has extended its programming into the occasional NU evening, as it will on Friday. In addition to the free access, there’s a full slate of evening events to keep visitors busy. Live music from classical guitarists and the Xavier College Prep Honor Choir will fill the air while storyteller Ken Duncan shares tales of the San Carlos Apache. There’s also Fritz Scholder and Rick Bartow artwork on display with a cash bar and a $5 taco bar to keep folks fueled.
