The rising temps are enough to make you hallucinate, so you might as well be swept off to a far away land. On Saturday, June 28, Phoenix Art Museum hosts Noh theater performances, which theatrically weave dance, music, and drama to transport attendees to ancient Japan.
Since August 2000, Theater Nohgaku has been bringing the beauty of Noh theater to English-speaking audiences. Elizabeth Dowd is a founding member of Theater Nohgaku and a co-founder of the Noh Training Project at the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble, while Theatre Nohgaku member David Crandall has been studying the art form since 1979. Together, they’ll be presenting selections from Noh plays that unify audiences with performers.
This afternoon of Noh performances is inside the museum’s Whiteman Hall, 1625 North Central Avenue. Admission is free with admission to the museum, which is $15. For more information, call 602-257-1880 or visit www.phxart.org.
