Either you’ve always longed for an urban adventure, or you can’t get enough of them. These mini-The Amazing Race-like events — unraveling clues, dashing hither and yon, rediscovering your stompin’ grounds with a teammate — are just plain fun for play-starved adults.

“Ewww,” you astutely remark, “it’s a bajillion degrees.” Hence the Twilight Town Trek, invented by Arizonans to milk the darkness of evening for hot-weather thrills. The adventure through Scottsdale begins with a pre-race meeting at 6:45 p.m. at the Blue Moose. If you’re not done by 10:30, just head for the afterparty, sweetie. (The lowest-scoring and best-costumed teams do get prizes too, though.)

Got more than two who want to play? Multiple teams are a great way to commemorate a milestone birthday, last outing as a single person, or just making it this far through the freakin’ summer. Registration’s $100 per team and benefits the Arizona Humane Society.
