Coming up with answers to life’s big questions is daunting. What if you make the wrong decision? What if Satan were the hero and God the villain? That’s the premise of The Devil’s Carnival, the latest film project from the creators of Repo! The Genetic Opera.
“It’s the same type of weird, crazy insane world, yet set in hell,” says director Darren Lynn Bousman. “It’s bigger than life … flamboyant, boisterous, and dark at the same time. It’s a modern retelling of Aesop’s fables.”
The freaky flick will tour with a 45-city road show that includes a vaudeville act, sing-alongs, and question and answer panels. “I want to make going to the theater fun, I want to make it an experience,” Bousman says of the immersive experience.
