When the Mayan apocalypse drifted insipidly past, it certainly didn’t feel as though a new era had been ushered in. If anything it felt like Friday. But Tomas Moniz, editor and founder of the acclaimed San Francisco-based zine Rad Dad, has been doing more than his fair share of ushering. For years now Mr. Moniz has been redefining modern fatherhood, and, along with cohort Jeremy Adam Smith, the creator of the blog Daddy Dialectic, has striven to “create a diverse, multi-faced space in which to grapple with the complexity of fathering.”
Recently the intrepid duo compiled the finest pieces from their respective publications into the book Rad Dad: Dispatches From The Frontiers Of Fatherhood, providing pops everywhere with modern and honest insight aplenty. Mr. Moniz will be dropping by The Trunk Space, 1506 Grand Avenue, on Friday, January 4, to read and discuss all things Rad Dad.
