Horrifying thought: Today’s kids might be more familiar with Kris Kardashian than Kris Kringle. Luckily, the AZ Cacophony Society is fighting reality television’s War on Christmas by invading Scottsdale en masse while dressed as that jolly old soul, Santa Claus, on Saturday, December 7.

Santarchy has become a day of infamy in the Valley, with revelers donning their gay apparel as Santa, Mrs. Claus, elves, and other holiday heroes. This year, it happens to fall on Pearl Harbor Day, but the only bombing going on will be shots slugged back at watering holes in Old Town. While getting into the spirits of holiday is encouraged, out-of-line rowdiness and vandalism aren’t tolerated. Santa knows how to hold his liquor. The festivities also have a charitable angle, with donations being taken for Toys for Tots.

Santarchy starts shaking its sleigh bells at 6 p.m. at Dos Gringos, 4209 North Craftsman Court in Scottsdale. Participation is free. For more information, visit www.azcacophony.org.
