There are plenty of examples proving that you can have too much of a good thing – like every episode of The Simpsons after the 11th season – so we don’t think there’s anything controversial about saying that the baseball season runs a little long. It’s not that we don’t like rounders, mind you. It’s just that with 162 games and only 16 teams in the National League, the match-ups tend to get a little stale.
On the other hand, Tuesday’s interleague romp between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers is special. While the D-Backs play league foes like the Cubs several times a year – and seem to host the Dodgers every other week – the Rangers have only ever come to Chase Field a couple of times in AZ franchise history.
, Nelson Cruz, Ian Kinsler, and the rest of the AL West-leading Rangers begin a three-game set against the D-Backs at the Chase.
