We don’t care what the New Age feel-good granola eaters say: Friendly competition never hurt anyone. Hell, even a little unfriendly competition can be a good thing. Take, for example, Cowboy Ciao’s Chef Challenge, which will be held Thursday, December 19, at the Scottsdale eatery. The more that Pig & Pickle Chef Keenan Bosworth wants his dishes to stomp those made by Cowboy Ciao’s Lester Gonzales, the better your food will taste. The more that Clayton MacGregor, Pig & Pickle’s beverage manager, wants his wine selections to shine above those picked by Ciao owner/wino Peter Kasperski, the better your drink pairings will be. Throughout five food courses and 10 wines, their struggle is your gain.

Reap the benefits of these competing foodies at 6:30 p.m. at Cowboy Ciao, 7133 East Stetson Drive in Scottsdale. Cost is $60 per person. Visit cowboyciao.com or call 480-946-3111 for more.
