We’ve noticed that NASCAR and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints have a lot in common. Both organizations are growing rapidly, each meets for a long time on Sundays, and, from what we’ve noticed, hipsters often ridicule followers of both.

If you’re not afraid of a little persecution, clear your weekend schedule, because Phoenix International Raceway is hosting NASCAR Weekend. The gates open for spectators today at 10 a.m., and the day’s activities will be capped off at 7:40 p.m. by the USAC Silver Crown Race. The Lucas Oil 150, a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, starts at 6 p.m. Friday, while the headlining event on Saturday is the Able Body Labor 200 at 2:30 p.m. The main attraction, which starts at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, is the Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500. The penultimate race of the Sprint Cup Series should feature plenty of drama, as the world’s top drivers close in on the most prestigious prize in racing.
