Before the Pirates of the Caribbean took over the silver screen, there was a whole group of artsy buccaneers and corsairs that roamed the high seas in search of well-crafted paintings of beautiful nude wenches, sparkly rubies, and rum. Those dapper pirates were eventually ousted from pirate life because tending to the poop deck was nothing like living it up Captain Jack Sparrow-style. But you can channel their spirits Friday, September 14, at downtown Mesa’s Pirate Block Party.

Dig up your best swashbuckling swag and get ready to hunt for artsy riches along the stretch of Main Street between Country Club and Mesa Drive. Alongside the shiny, creative treasures, the art walk will also include a pirate talking contest, games for the little sea dogs, a best booty contest, live music, and plenty of food and drink.
