So Sudan, a new indie shop in the AZ Lost Boys Center in Phoenix, will host a grand opening this weekend.
The center was established in 2003 to provide a safe and community-based space for war affected Sudanese refugees living in Phoenix. Store founders Amguma Deng, Nyakour Kagook, and Alal Teresa Marino (pictured above) brought in hundreds of original African items, ranging from men and women’s clothing to ceramic cows made by local Sudanese Lost Boys.
The shop, at 918 West Van Buren St, doesn’t open to the public until Saturday during a shebang from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. In the meantime, we’ll tease you with some images …
