Imagine how fun it would be to live in a Stray Cats music video. The retro pairings of pompadour-wearing guys and gals in poodle skirts innocently sharing a milkshake until they need to prove themselves in a hot-rod race sounds like a blast. Of course, real life is nothing like Grease, though aspiring Sandys and Dannys can show their stuff at the monthly First Friday Sock Hop. After a free swing dance lesson, cats and kittens can tear it up on the dance floor to some live rockabilly jams, or they can take in the throwback fun while noshing on diner eats. The parking lot will be full of vintage cars, and anyone who rolls up in a pre-1972 ride gets to eat for free.

First Friday of every month, 6:30 p.m. Starts: Dec. 7. Continues through Feb. 1, 2012
