There are two schools of thought on how to celebrate the annual exercise in alcoholic excess that is Saint Patrick’s Day, which falls this year on Tuesday, March 17:
A) Gather with hundreds of drunken, screaming malcontents covered in cheesy green trinkets and listen to clamorous Celtic rock bands while stuffing your gob with as much green beer and corned beef and cabbage as you can stomach until retching.
B) Engage in a more subdued celebration of the holiday with a few of your close friends, some tasty microbrewed beer, and some groovy tunes.

If the latter sounds more your style, head for The Lost Leaf, 914 North Fifth Street, for the beer-and-wine joint’s Festival of Drinking. Eclectic Latin lounge/rock group Fatigo and jazzy experimental music ensemble Sonorous will paint the place with a wall of sound, while a selection of artisan cheeses and the Leaf’s staggering selection of beer will be available.
