Television is hitting a new golden age with well-crafted dramas and tightly-scripted comedies catching the attention of even the snootiest of adults. But what about the kids? They’ve been relegated to Disney Channel schmaltz and ABC Family crud. Boo. We’d much rather take young minds to Arizona Opera’s Student Night at the Opera dress rehearsal of The Daughter of the Regiment on Wednesday, April 8, makes it possible. Soprano Susannah Biller plays Marie, a plucky young girl raised by French soldiers in the Alps in this comedic romp.

The Student Night at the Opera: The Daughter of the Regiment is at Phoenix Symphony Hall, 75 North Second Street, starting at 6 p.m. Tickets for students are $5 while chaperone tickets are $10. Visit www.azopera.org for more info.
