When Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art announced it was bringing performer, author, and kickass entertainer Tania Katan on board to mix things up a year ago, we knew we were in for something good.
Almost a year later, we’ve sat in a sold-out SMoCA Lounge a number of times to experience a number of Katan’s programs, including Lit Lounge. The event, billed by Katan as “a little rock’n’roll, a little This American Life,” is a monthly opportunity to listen to selected authors and performers from Arizona and across the country. These lineups have shared their stories, paired with live music, to a live audience in the SmoCA Lounge.
And this month, Katan’s taking Lit Lounge to a whole new level.

On Thursday, May 30 Katan will welcome a handful of award-winning authors and performers to the big stage at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts for “The Most of” Lit Lounge.
The evening will include stories from Katan, award-winning author Hillary Carlip, Stephen Colbert’s guest on Comedy Central Joe Smith, best-selling author Jen Sincero, Comedy Central Stage performer Shaz Bennett, The Moth Story Slam (New York) winner Molly McCloy, L.A. Drama Critics’ Circle Award-winning playwright Kim Porter, NEA Award-winning performer Jeff McMahon, New Times contributors Robrt Pela and Katie Johnson, and more.

In addition to great stories and funny anecdotes from Katan, audience members will also be treated to musical bits by Where Are All the Buffalo, Halden Wofford + Doug Bale.
Tickets to Lit Lounge always sell out, and this time around, there’s room for all of your friends. SMoCA member tickets are $8, non-member tickets are $10, and both are available for purchase through Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.
