The Arizona BBQ Festival is the biggest honky-tonk in the state. Or maybe it’s the biggest hoedown. Or is it a hootenanny? Call it what you want; it’s a party, complete with live country music, contests of Redneck ability — think arm-wrestling, toilet-seat horseshoes, pie-eating, watermelon seed-spitting, bobbing for pigs’ feet, mechanical bull-riding — and a (very literal) ton of smoked brisket, chicken, pulled pork, ribs, and all the fixin’s. Yee-haw.
The Arizona BBQ Festival smokes out the Salt River Fields at 7555 North Pima Road in Scottsdale from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 2. General admission tickets are $12. Call 480-270-5102 or visit azbbqfestival.com for more.
