We don’t know about you, but ever since the Royal Water broke we’ve had baby fever. But because nine months is a hell of a long time to wait for our own, we’ll settle for other people’s birthing stories.

Enter Theater Works’ Push!, which opens Friday, August 9, at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts, 8355 West Peoria Avenue. Told through a series of 21 vignettes, the play touches on both omnipresent and abnormal stories of conception, trying pregnancies, and graphic delivery-room tales. The one-man show, written and performed by Mike Duhame (who even wears an empathy-belly in some scenes) was created after a series of interviews with 22 men and women — all of whom Duhame brings to life onstage.

Curtain goes up at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays with 2 p.m. matinees on Sundays through August 18. Tickets are $10. Call 623-815-7930 or visit www.theaterworks.org.

Fridays, Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Aug. 9. Continues through Aug. 18, 2013
