Drag is an exercise in excess, showcasing some of the most glamorous and the hilariously campy queens. Though considered a female impersonator, a drag queen’s point isn’t to masquerade as a woman. The goal is to exaggerate femininity with beautiful, sequined dresses and over-the-top makeup. The pageant system is a perfect fit for drag queens, who already love to flaunt their stuff. After all, it’s another excuse to look sickening (which is a compliment, miss thing). Local queens have competed for the glory of being crowned Miss Gay Arizona America since 1986. The tradition will continue with some fierce lip-synching and serious tucking at the 2013 Miss Gay Arizona America pageant later this year.
Embrace your inner diva at the second preliminary competition for Miss Gay Copper City America.
