Looking for something to do this weekend? “Night Owl” is a quick guide to specials nights at bar around town. We’ll give you a few hints re: cover, dress code, music and atmosphere. Saturdays mark The Palace at FilmBar.If it’s Saturday night and you’re looking for drink specials, beats by local DJs, a chill atmosphere, and cool local art, we’d suggest FilmBar’s latest addition, The Palace. The self-described international music bazaar is downtown Phoenix’s latest home to Djentrification and a slew of guest DJs who spin a mix of eccentrically eclectic world beats as the cool kids take advantage of happy hour specials.

Be sure to get here early if you want a seat at the bar or just a seat in general.
The Time: Every Saturday, 9:30 p.m. – 2 a.m.
The Cover: None.
The Bar: The full bar at the 6-month-old Filmbar features more than 30 beers. The Saturday special is a $5 Lagunitas IPA. The slightly better bargain is the happy hour special, which gets you a dollar off everything until midnight.

What we loved: The bizarre and bilingual beats of this bohemian bazaar.
What we didn’t love: The night is supposedly all about celebrating world music but there’s not really a dance floor in the narrow circular-shaped lobby of the Filmbar, which is where the palatial party goes down. Kindof lame.
Are we going back? We might make an appearance. Can’t stay out too late though, we have to look good for Sunday’s Cannonball Pool Party.
