Take a break from pulling your hair out over your holiday shopping list, all those sweets that need baking, stressing over what to wear for the already-started holiday party season, and have some fun this weekend.
Here are your best bets:
Stray Cat Christmas! @ Go-Kat-Go
Vintage shop Go-Kat-Go and AZ Retro Rescue will team up for a rockabilly-themed holiday party tonight from 6 to 10 p.m. Arrive dressed in your ’50s-inspired best to compete in the Best Pomp and Best Pumps categories. Winners will receive “purrrfect” prizes.
A DJ will be on hand to spin rockin’ tunes, while stylish cats sip hot cocoa and their accompanying kittens get cat eye makeovers. Admission to this all-ages event is free, and donations will go toward spaying and neutering local animals.
Crafeteria @ Medlock Plaza
Frances will host the sixth annual Crafeteria tonight from 6 to 10 p.m. Browse and shop handmade goods from 45 local makers, in addition to checking out the goodies at Smeeks, Stinkweeds, Halo, and Frances Studio’s holiday pop-up shop, which is chock-full of ornaments, tinsel, trinkets, and you-name-it.
Short Leash Dogs will be there to feed the masses, and Tetra String Quartet will perform. Admission is free, but we have a feeling it’ll be tough to keep your wallet zipped shut for the evening.
Anniversary Snow Party @ Axis/Radius
Since chances are good we won’t see significant snow in Phoenix this year (or, really, any year), a little manufactured precipitation can make for a lot of fun. Before heading to Axis/Radius tonight, bundle up.
The club will have 10 tons of snow for angel-making, snowball fighting, and festive frostiness. Down liquor snow cones while DJ Solomon and Rock It! Scientists bring the noise. Tickets are $10 to $25, and available here.

Tyson Powless Art Show @ The Fixx
Check out works from local artist and graphic designer Tyson Powless on Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. Powless owns UN3EK SY5TEM, a screen printing company inspired by graffiti, Native American art, and hip-hop. In addition to his artwork, see his musical projects Ill Franklyn and Analog Sweat perform live during the evening. See details here.
The Tillman Story Screening @ Phoenix Art Museum
Upsetting, disturbing, and, most of all, it’s disheartening. Must-see documentary The Tillman Story chronicles Pat Tillman’s family’s search to uncover the truth about his friendly-fire death and the government’s propaganda-like appropriation of Tillman’s image as a patriotic character.
Former CBS-5 sports anchor Eric Sperling will introduce the film and lead a post-screening discussion. See it on Saturday at 3 p.m. Admission is $5, and tickets are available here.
